Just a perspective..

by Michael   Dec 17, 2019

You work alone-
Striving; constantly,
to keep everything balanced.

A continual tiresome role
rectifying the errors we create

which resonates
(on a scale)

deep within myself.

When you pour your heart out
your tears wreck havoc;
washing away the persistent mistakes

-but nobody knows
the pain you endure.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

We stab you in the back with missiles
leaving open wounds in the atmosphere
and shrapnel lurks in our waters

No surprise your mood becomes erratic

Irritated;
as we pollute your mind!

Plants and flowers are force-fed,
just for our demands
leaving a trail of footprints
that tread on the toes of tree-roots.

The ocean gasps for air
as oxygen is slowly thinning out

and all the while-
sea-life are
kept in the dark.

~ ~ ~ ~

Money is meaningless;
it has no value in your sphere

Its humanities addiction.

If we had to give it up,
to save our world-

would we!?

What’s the point in
using this source,
exploring if life exists outside our world,
when the money we have
cannot even help the one we have!?

~ ~ ~ ~

If animals could talk
would they lie?

In my opinion, if they could
they would tell us, some
home truths!

    Michael this really sums up what is happening at the moment. What a dreadful consumerist world we live in. A place where too many people are so obsessed with possessions, money and power that they just don't seem to care any more about their fellow man, vulnerable children or animals.

    Such atrocities I have read about recently from Doctors being arrested just because they were trying to get badly needed flu vaccinations to refugee children (apparently against the USA law) to bringing out a new law to shoot bears whilst they are hibernating. Its time that we as a race start taking responsibility and stop condoning such cruelty - give the vulnerable and weak a voice and punish those who inflict such pain and suffering on others. Glad to see it nominated its poems like this that help raise awareness. Best wishes Milly x
