Man-kind or mother nature

by Michael   Apr 8, 2020

The penny
finally dropped-

however, by then
what fell prior, were the
lives of humanity

an explosion that brought
money to its knees, but brought
human life to death.

Money will rise from the ashes;
like weeds grown from a garden
-but lives will remain as dust.

Flowers will still be picked,
but will rest on the graves
of the innocent.

Shall we ever learn, that life is precious;
And will we ever understand,
that money has no value
when a life has suffered
will we continue to be at war
with ourselves and never learn
the true value of life

We shall, no doubt
continue to suffer from the chemistry
that only brings hatred and not love!

We are organisms;
spawned from nature itself
we are given the wonderment of life, that we
experience for free, where money cannot compare
however, it is the hands of greed;
that sow the seeds of money;
where power is then ripped by green-fingered
desires

Its true of what is said about
money does not grow on trees, only
leaves and buds that blossom

but they are murdered to provide material
for an alternative source.

another way look at it-

if this is a war with nature,
then that is a very serious concern
for us all-

for more tears will fall,
than leaves from the
trees!

    Dear Michael the truth well spoken. I can feel your emotions with each line. I often wonder about humanity and money ruling the world. It saddens my heart to know. I could go on and on and all it does is upsetting me. Thank you for sharing and be blessed. Hugs to you. Add to my favorite

    Michael! I've missed your poetry and message and sincerity in your verses. I feel so much of the strength of your character in your works, and I feel if more people could set aside time and read, perhaps they would realize the way we harm each other, this earth, and how we need to learn from this.

    This made me think of corporations prioritizing profit over people, which has been a pretty big discussion in our city lately, with one place in particular that is using its influence questionably (a big employer, runs a lot of things in our city and has close ties with our mayor too, so it's been allowed to stay open during this time of quarantine even though it's not technically an essential business).

    Love all of your spot-on and heartfelt correlations with nature and the reminders that being at war with others, and with ourselves, will only continue that path of destruction. When greed drives a great deal of humans, when money is worshiped and lusted after, we are in deeper trouble than many realize.

    Well said, indeed. Some truly great lines in here. The idea of money growing like weeds and the flowers being picked for the graves is very powerful imagery.

    I hope you are staying well, Michael. All the best to you and yours,
    Ben
