Everybody's Mum (Joan)

by CJ Maleney   Jul 1, 2020

Joan of Ark you never were
God intended something more
Your frequent bouts dizziness
Had us rolling on the floor

When the adolescents had a fall out
I'm sorry! but you said something quite dumb
"If you two do not stop it now"
"I'll shoot you slowly through the thumbs"

This is a memory I'll treasure
And I'm sure this will always be
I wish I could have been there for you more
As you always were for me

So now you've gone and left us
And although we'll miss your silly!
But we take some comfort in knowing
You are now picking on poor Billy

Although Steven is my best mate
And he's been for many years
When he was jollying it away at sea
It was you who seen my tears

You we're not just that fun soul and smile
You had a heart as big as the world
You had a way of soothing
And to let emotions unfurl

I had some pretty dark days
But you were always like my sun
So with heavy heart and tears in my eyes
I say sleep well my surrogate mum
