Potpourri

by Michael   Dec 14, 2020

two flowers
crushed between
the leaves
of a typical
book

a story far too
often told

but what was
a tragedy became
a remedy for a while

for they
shared the same page
bringing a little zest
and colour to fragile
petals

sadly
both came
to rest

and
the ashes of
their memories
leave a scent

so
beautiful and
refreshing

An extremely moving piece Michael, it's as if these lovers couldn't live apart.. Abit like Romeo and Juiliet

Michael, this is sadly beautiful. A relationship started in not the best of circumstances, flourishing for a bit but in the end not surviving. I really liked it a lot.

^ These lines were my favorite and hit my heart the hardest. Confined to the pages of a book, but making the most of it, bringing more meaning... and now, their fragrance from memories and love is still there.

    Well done, Michael!

Lovely bittersweet imagery here. Sometimes two things forced together become a perfect whole. Anyway, that's what my father-in-law barked at my shotgun wedding!

      Thank you Mr D.
Shotgun weddings, no wonder there are so many double barreled names.
      :)
