Twists and turns

by CJ Maleney   Apr 7, 2021

I almost shed a tear today,
And that was for a guy.
He was my boss until tonight
And he ain't good at goodbyes.

I had to make a choice.
And sometimes they are hard.
As loyal as I am unto that man
I had to play a card.

It's been a difficult one to play,
For I do enjoy the game,
But the game can wear you down somewhat,
And i have only me to blame.

For seven moths I've done this job,
And my boss became a friend.
He is now part of my circle,
And I hope this never ends.

He's a big old southern lump of a bloke.
And yeah he's fairly hard.
A man that grafted through his life,
And gone the extra yard.

He's a cocky bolchy bugger.
And believe me this is true,
But he has a bloody heart of gold,
Can this be said of you?

So I feel a little maudlin right now,
As I feel I've left a mate.
But for that man and as I can
I would trample down hells gate.

An open, warm and honest poem, Craig. Sounds like a top man.

Yeah Ben he's a good egg. Proper hard core but a true gent despite his outward appearance.
