Sunny by the Shore

Within a darkness, beyond the sea
my friend and I, dog makes three-

Walked along a vacant shore
shouting Poe, forever more
Lenore I was not, wild and free
just us three beside the sea.

We gathered kisses, seashells and such
simplistic adventure, nothing much
I loved him dearly but darkness set in
evil demise was spreading me thin.

I crept behind shadows, just like Lenore
broke his heart, like the women before
I can still hear him whisper softly, "goodbye"
with angry expression, tear in his eye.

Now I gather, alone with the tide
counting teardrops, nothing to hide
he has his diamonds worth more than the sea
I live in peace, happy you see -

Within a darkness, beyond the sea
lives a poem, bout a man and a tree
preserved in a bottle, floating away
as sun meets moon, ending the day.

Really wonderful. I loved the rhymes throughout, and the subtle alliteration in the title.
I loved the first stanza for the lovely imagery, the reference to 'The Raven' by Edgar Allan Poe - an excellent poem! - and also the internal rhymes in some of the lines.
The next four lines were full of rich wording. I loved the use of the phrase 'evil demise' at the end of the stanza, as it's a very . . . Strong term to use, and says so much in so little.
Next, I loved the rhythm in this stanza and the powerful wording. My favourite line was the first, as the use of 'crept behind shadows' was really interesting to me, as shadows are something that revolve around you, but this suggests that you revolve and hide around them, if that makes sense!
The next stanza was my favourite in this poem, as it's so beautifully written and full of imagery. Despite the sadness in the rest of this poem, it seemed surprisingly uplifting.
The final stanza was intriguing, as there was something of a hidden story in it - it leaves you wondering.
I really loved it, glad to see it nominated :)
