Boddox!

Sara shouted “Boddox!”
As she tore her brand new dress
“What did you say?” asked Suki
I could tell she was impressed.

"Mummy often says it
When she thinks I’m not around,"
said Sara grinning widely
as she skipped through the playground

“Boddox” Suki tried it
In a mousy little voice
“No, louder!” Sara shouted
“That’s too quiet, make some noise”

“Boddox! Boddox! Boddox!”
We three shouted full of glee.
It felt so very naughty,
But it felt so very free.

Now often when I stumble,
Or life boots me in the rear,
That word pops out unbidden,
Bringing childhood mem’ries near
