If my heart was a rose
Would it be as black as the ashes of your love?
If I had thorns in my petals
Would you remove them?
If my heart was a rose
Would you just sit there and watch me wilt?
If my life were the shadows on a sunny day
Would you sit under my shade?
If I was the love that grew on trees
Would you come just to say hello?
If my heart was a rose
Would you pick me to be your own?
If my heart was a rose
Would you cherish me till I wilted away?

As Maher said, the opening is so forceful and powerful, but it ends so gently, as if you've used up all your energy and are only left with the questions you need to ask. Glad it's been nominated for the weekly contest!
Really beautiful. Welcome to poems and quotes! :)
