Spellbound.

by Poet on the Piano   Oct 2, 2021

Tomorrow, I will be alone,
but I am not apprehensive.

The rain will guide me home,
among wildlife and autumn hauntings.

I may not sleep til dawn,
tethered to the chill of
melancholic spirits.

I will wander, knowing nothing,
while omnipresent energies
push me forward,

an ethereal descant.

For once,
no one will try to track me down.

I will be lost,
yet not forsaken.

    Tomorrow, I will be alone,
    but I am not apprehensive.

^ You jump right into it - the sudden description of being alone, yet, feeling no form of sadness or unwillingness to be alone is sobering within these first two lines—a somber, peaceful acceptance.

The rain will guide me home,
    among wildlife and autumn hauntings.

^ Oh! I love the imagery, the words, and the description. "The rain will guide me home, among wildlife and autumn hauntings." I adore that. It vividly depicts a cold night filled with wildlife in a deep dark autumn night of howling winds and crisp rain. Beautiful!

I may not sleep til dawn,
    tethered to the chill of
    melancholic spirits.

^ This stanza was romantically sad - filled with beauty and a sense of deep emotions. I relate to this. The night is long for me - chilled and desolate, bleak, yet peaceful to be away from everyone. To breathe in the night and the spirits that whisper in the dark and our dreams as the sun rises and I finally sleep.

    I will wander, knowing nothing,
    while omnipresent energies
    push me forward,

^ Wow! So much powerful detail. It describes the unknownness of death, the unsure reality of life after death and knowing nothing yet, a sense of feeling that this is a present, an energy pushing, guiding, and moving us forward.

    an ethereal descant.

    For once,
no one will try to track me down.

    I will be lost,
    yet not forsaken.

^ Strong. Powerful. Emotional ending. You blow me away with the way you can pen your emotions in a decisive manner that captures the reader's heart, mind, and soul.
