Disenchanted

Contempt-
The word is…

Brutal.

Yet still,
An accurate summarization,
of all you’ve kept
Hidden-
For so long,
behind a mask of callous
Indifference.

I did not want to see,
but-

I knew.

I could not name it,
Define it,
but it was there.
I felt it.
Woven as an undertone,
in all you do.

Contempt.

The singular word,
You chose,
as the description
of your regard-
For me.

By your testament,
I am inferior.
Worthless-
Despised.
Deserving of nothing,
Except,
Open disrespect and scorn.

You make me out to be
The Crazy One,
Broken.
In need of fixing,
and somehow,
You still believe-

You care.

    A beautiful tragedy...
Beautiful in the way you've brought to words what so many have only had the unfortunate opportunity to feel.
A tragedy because you've had to experience it!
Here's to hoping you come out the other side stronger, freer, and one day happier than ever before.
