Strangers in the night.

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 11, 2024

Your name was Patrick,
I made sure I got it right
before you closed the curtain.

It meant the world that you said goodbye.
I think you even wished me good luck.

And I remember
not meeting anyone's gaze,
not looking up until later.

I remember your kindness,
the way you made sure I felt
comfortable, even at my lowest.

I remember how you stayed
in the room for a bit,
how I apologized,
how you said there's no need.

I'll never forget you.

I hope you know how grateful I am.
