Better days.

“Wait for better days."

I hear it again and again,

but I’ve waited

for centuries it seems.

And the peace never stayed.

Hope was like a wave,

rolling over my feet,

receding the moment

I asked it to stay.

    The last four lines are beautiful, you phrased the feeling so clearly.

    It gave me a feeling like you're standing barefoot on the beach as the sunlight fades and the waves of hope slip away when you reach out to them
