Heavenly Father

by hayley williams   Sep 9, 2004

I begged you to take away my pain
And for many things I gave you blame
I thought you would ignore me again
But this time for some reason you came

I had long ago given up on my dreams
Accepted that I was ruled by depression
I felt so bad that I was busting at the seams
My anger was followed by aggression

I couldn’t see through the cloudy days
Never believed that I would be free
But you work in such mysterious ways
And when I needed you, you came to me

You gave me the confidence to try
Helped me to get back up on my feet
I no longer have the constant urge to cry
And you will never hear me admit defeat

I am back on top of the game of my life
Even though I have a long way up ahead
I know that I can work through my strife
Because you bought me back from the dead
