Unfulfilled Promise

by HOLLY ARMER   Sep 29, 2004

Crystal tears from her eyes.
Can't forget, though she tries.

Falling deep into despair.
All too much for her to bare.

Her unborn child had a name.
Wanted so much, but never came.

Taken away, it's just not right.
Cries herself to sleep at night.

Depressed and alone, her baby's gone.
Doesn't want to face the dawn.

Lullaby's haunting in her head.
Makes her wish she was dead.

Breaking free...can't be done.
Finds herself holding a gun.

Crying now, to her baby dear.
Hopelessness in every tear.

Give me strength, my little one.
So we can be together, when I'm done.

With nothing left to be said.
She puts the gun to her head.

Darkness shattered by the light.
As a mother and her child, reunite!

*I couldn't come up with a title for this piece..if you have any idea's please let me know!

    Great poem, Holly! soooo sad!!!!!

If the baby had a name... how about making that the title of the poem...and I might make the last line of the poem include that... like if Ashley was the baby's name... make the last line: "As Mother (or mama) and Ashley, reunite!"
