Tarnish The Varnish

by Kevin   Oct 27, 2004

A different angle
a shade or two dimmer
still my face
refuses to glimmer
in the prime of youth
I’ve sworn allegiance
like a well trained grunt
to my appearance

beholder of the beauty
though this eye never see’s it
an if I found
in my reflection
a tiny touch of wonder
I’d probably put it down to angles
and cast all praise asunder

I’ll blame the dame
who got me thinking
of hair
flare
and facial care
so that by side
what a lovely pair!

now without
I see the sham
and to my appearance
I wave a hand
my hair's a mess
in the dark I dress
I am still of worth
not one bit less

Ok I promise is a promise, I picked this one because no one else has ever commented and its not likely to be read again since its well down on your list an early effort.

Great poem 5/5 lol..... sorry just taking the piss out of this site. You know whats sad is this is a cleaver little gem and who's going to wander upon it. Probably nobody. I could breakdown the poem and pretend to be critical and admiring all in the same pen stroke. I know your bright and I dont need to tell you what you all ready know. Like your second verse your probably to modest to accept it anyway. I wont say I enjoyed the poem, but I'll shed a little tear that it deserved much more attention
