Cling to the Night...

by Kaitlin Kristina   Dec 2, 2004

The city sleeps while you lie awake,
Your heartbeats, but it feels fake.
You wander around this world all alone,
Feeling lost, feeling like stone.

A tear, it streams down your cheek,
Drowning your hopes in empty dreams,
You see the pain in each person’s eyes
Passing on the street with meaningless lives.

You eat up the bullshit lies you are told,
You have been calloused to life, broken and cold.
Your feeling lost and misunderstood,
You’re feeling lonely, your heart broken for good.

Sent out to face your darkest fears,
You scream out loud, yet no one hears.
To be alone is way too hard,
You’re already hurt, so just let down your guard.

Grab my hand and hold it tight,
Together we will make it through the frostbitten night,
I will hug and kiss your pains away,
Find and fight your angry dismay.

Tonight I am with you, forever yours,
To be locked into your heart with slamming doors.
I need you, and I know you need me,
Let me take care of you, just let it be.

Don’t turn away; you can’t change the past,
But you can create a future that will ever last,
Hold me as tightly as you need,
I am here, just let go and breathe.

Everything will always be okay,
If you can make it through to the end of the day.
I will be with you, until death do us part,
So hold me tight, just cling to the dark.
