Final straw (not slang-damn the spell checker)

by Mild insomnia   Jan 6, 2005

Final Straw.

The sun breaks the window; shards of light hit the floor,
You say find out what you want, I want what I wanted before,
I haven’t changed my mind darling, I wish you wouldn’t believe,
That I am constantly lying, or that I’m gonna leave,
Cos I could sit here for hours, with this look on my face,
Making you paper flowers, to brighten up the place.

This is the final straw,
It’s the last one.
Today.

I’ve been spinning in cartwheels, trying to find out what’s wrong,
Turned tricks on my crucifix, hun you know I’m not that strong,
If you’d please sit yourself down, take a moment to relax,
Stop raising your voice at me; for once cut me some slack,
I’ve flipped myself inside out, looking for an explanation,
To why the walls fell down, I’m re-building the foundation.

This is the final straw,
It’s the last one.
Today.

The rain pounds on the roof, and the tiles might give in,
Stop feeling sorry for yourself; let’s not bring out the violins,
I don’t mind twisting the truth, as long as it’s not a lie,
And I’ll help shoulder the blame, but just don’t push me aside,
I’d follow you wherever you go, if you’ll let come with,
Walk a mile in your shoes, if you’d for once let me in.

This is the final straw,
It’s the last one.
Today.
