Moon Shine

by ~*LorienElf*~   Feb 8, 2005

The sun sets upon my wretched life
And the moon rises in its place
Its light reflected on the edge of the knife
As it drifts off into space

The coming and going of my pains
Mimics the changing moon
It waxes and it wanes
The darkest night is coming soon

A shadow covers the light
The moon, my inspiration, slips away
Now there is only night
There will never again be day

The shadow blocks all sense
Of what is right and wrong
My mind becomes tense
The time until I finally crack is not long

The knife shines in my eye
As I clench it in my fist
Tears are reflected when I cry
As they slide down, my cheek is gently kissed

I yell out in frustration
I can't take the searing pain anymore
I start to feel this longing sensation
It pulls at my mind until it's too sore

I look at the knife that lies before me
My only escape from the sorrow
The only way out I can see
I will never see the sun tomorrow

The knife is like a cloud
Letting loose its bloody rain
Curtaining it falls like a red shroud
Releasing me from all my pain

The shadow passes and reveals the moon shine
The light is now worthwhile
It crosses the sky and casts a line
On a ghost white face that will never again smile
