The Mirror Can't Reveal Beauty

by Heather M Craig   Mar 30, 2005

Peering through the reflective glass
searching for beauty that came and passed.

The skin of blemishes I have made,
the smiles overcasted by the fade,

The tribulation the eyes behold,
victim of society to let the body go.

The perished beauty I've ceased to find
because the cliched is cemented in my mind.

I break the chains that slave me to society
upon a new and interesting discovery...

I took the deeper look, the mirror doesn't prevail,
and I'm suddenly released from the veil.

I have founded true allure that only I can find,
the beauty I carry is in this heart of mine.
