I close my eyes to see you

by PAUL HEWSON   Apr 5, 2005

We used to watch together
the sunset sink and pass
side by side together
on a blanket on the grass

do you remember the closeness
the smiles and photographs
the pictures now they are faded
just like us, into the past

that patch of grass is still tinted
where our blanket used to lay
and the sunrise has almost melted
melted into the day

i close my eyes to see you
and hold my breath to breath
i wear my hurt on the inside
i wear my heart on my sleeve
