Holding Hands With Mediocrity

by HOLLY ARMER   May 3, 2005

Looking into the mirror
terrified at what I see.
Who is this failure
staring back at me?

My dreams led me nowhere
I've lost my desire.
No goals or achievements
to help rekindle the fire.

Just living my life daily
as if it is a chore.
Don't know why I ever envisioned
it would be more.

Holding hand's with mediocrity
has become my destiny.
And when I look into the mirror
that's exactly what I see!

As always, Holly, I admire your work and I can definatly relate to this one as well as so many out there. Have you ever read "Mirror" by Sylvia Plath. It's an amazing piece of total personification, the mirror tell it's side ... your poem reminded me of it...lol, sorry. Anyhow, keep it up!

Then you must look in the water, or shiny metal, or glass... anything that will change your perscpective of yourself. For once you think you can, you can. A simple phrase yet it holds so much meaning. Read some of my work if you get the time.
