Taking Pity, Yearning More

by Heather M Craig   May 7, 2005

I peer into the naive eyes
of my oblivious generation
submerged in self pity
weakened by pressured temptation.

Their gentle eyes on a mission of sorrow
that has binded the truth from thee.
Concealed imprisonment of their helpless souls
with piercing whispers to be set free.

No one knows the weight they carry
behind the masks they construct
the pain, turmoil, the lies
they've seemed to abduct.

Descending tears from mysterious eyes
society hands them pity.
I theft thy pity from thee hands
for they yearn for no simplicity.

I've been those agonizing souls,
but sufferage and tears built me.
Thanks to pitiless hearts
to independance, I'm guilty.

--Heather M Craig

Me and a friend were arguing a few nights ago because I don't attempt to give anyone pity in life, instead, I push them in a direction I never thought they would go. I'm fairly hard on some people because I don't think they yearn pity, I think they need someone to push them harder so anyhow, this is how this poem came about....

Great poem. I haven't been on in a while, but life's stresses have urged me to write more.
