The Ghost Festival (Chinese Tradition)

Intro: The Chinese ghost festival is in the annual Chinese Lunar calendar for 14th of July (Same for each lunar year). On this day the gates of hell are open for a whole month for all manner of ghosts and ghouls to come out and play. Offerings are made nightly to appease the spirits and make them go away.

The Ghost Festival:

The same time each year the ghost festival draws near.
With each 14th of July, the gates of hell will be open.
The hungry ghosts will come from near and far.
A festival of spooks that will make you fear.

Each night a carnival for the dead who come and play, seeking out their prey.
A month of offerings is what it will take to appease these spirits and keep them at bay.
So food, fruit and candle sticks are laid out nightly for them to take their pick.
Lost souls that wander the streets nightly for ghoulish kicks.
