Shattered Dreams

by Spoken Silence   Sep 18, 2005

The world falls over you
Every time you try to stand up it crushes you
You lie there alone in self-pity
Under the rubble of your broken life
Laying over the shattered pieces of lost love
There's no one left to save you, no one willing to help
But you know even if there were you've fallen to far into the darkness to be redeemed
Your mind searches for light as your body refuses to move, enveloped in numbness
A numbness that contrarily makes you feel everything
All pain amplified to where tolerance is at an end
You can no longer bare the pain that shears your soul and shreds your heart so you decided to slice your wrists
You feel nothing as the blade traces across your skin
You look and see it merely leaking blood, you know you have to go deeper
As you push the knife into your flesh you begin to feel the sudden sting of the cold metal and the sharp edge
As the blood drains from your wrists you feel your pain release with it
You feel it trickle down your finger and it seems to echo as it hits the floor
You're becoming weary
As you lay there on the hard cypress floor you now feel no pain
The bleeding has stopped as you lay in the blood on the floor, the little warmth for your naked body.
Your eyelids become heavy and you start to slip into dream world
Before you fall asleep you have the dreaded realization that you'll wake up tomorrow and have this happen all over again
