Rainbow Shadow

by RainbowSlider   Oct 2, 2005

We lived in the land
of broken dreams
and forgotten tomorrows.
Shine, Buckwheat,
Nubian, Sly Grin, Moonbeam,
Periwinkle and me.
I want some, Periwinkle
would always say.
But that was all
she would ever say.
I met Shine one day
in the language of shine.
You have to talk
to me that way,
Rainbow.
I told him I was sorry.
I had never seen
a black rainbow before.
Shine said the black rainbow
reflected off the moon
and it only came out
at night.
We all watched out
for Periwinkle,
the girl with
deep blue contacts eyes.
Her story was tragic
but she held so much magic.
We would all hug
and there she would be.
I want some she would say.
We hugged each one
and she smiled.
Moonbeam told me her story
and how they were rough on her.
Buckwheat was a special poet
and a little friend of mine.
Buckwheat like Nubian
but Nubian was not that way
at first.
Nubian and me had special times.
We shared the same views.
Shine taught me how to speak
in heart.
Sly Grin was a soft spoken
man who always was flirting.
But that special night
we sat together
under the moon
shining so bright.
Periwinkle raised
up from the ground.
She pointed to the sky
and we knew it was time.
Look, I see the black rainbow.
