Strangers in a strange land

by RainbowSlider   Oct 3, 2005

I can nuture you if you will nuture me.
I can give to you if you can take from me.
I can take from you if you will give to me.
I can be strong for you if can be weak for me.
I can be weak for you if you will be strong for me.

We come into this world completely naive
but who is there to guide us?
Is there no guide to help
find our teacher?
We trudge through mire
of our own ignorance.
We track it on the carpet
of our life and we smear
it on others so that they
can mix it with their own.

Is there no language that we can share
to try to understand each other?
Strangers we meet in the dark
and greet each other with ourselves.
We grope in the darkness
trying to find the light.
We stumble and meet a friend.
We walk blindly together.

We wonder why is this
friend different than
the strangers.
How did this happen
and can we make it
happen again?

Is this related to the other poem I commented twice?

I like the use of the word 'mire' in this poem. Very nice.

I like this-but it seems to end too abruptly. It feels like it needs just a little something more, not sure what.In stanza two line one I would change 'stupid' to 'naive'.But actually all the stanzas are each well written. The carpet metaphor is excellent.Good work on this one.
