Walking Away From My Scars

by HighPerfection   Oct 27, 2005

We were walking home together
You pulled up my sleeve to hold my hand
You paused i know you had saw
Your thumb brushed over the new wound
He says
You said you had stopped
You said you stopped to
I begin to cry
He looks into my eyes says
Don't cry look were it got you
Pulls up my sleeve again kisses my wrist says all better
Suddenly it makes sense
Why do i do this
Over the years i have but on a happy face for you all
Now that mask is floating in the bottom of a river
Here is the new me
Watch me be proud
Watch me stand tall
Watch me as i sit on my knees as i place my razors in a hole dug in soft ground
Watch me grow old die and happy
Watch me be myself
Watch me as i am
Walking away from my scars
Of my hidden past

The last line makes the most of significance to the poem. Leave it, it leaves essence. Not bad at all and i like it.
