The unwritten letter

Unwritten Letter

Trees swaying
Children outside playing
Knee deep in white powder snow
I watch from the corner of my window

They're throwing snowballs
So white and bright yet darkness falls
In the dark sunken eyes of the night
It's blocking the sunlight with its black kite

Children run and leave behind a teddy bear
I walk out the door to pick it up
In its peaceful eyes an absent stare

I take Teddy inside and deposit it
On top of my closet
I sit down and watch a mite dance with the candlelight
His wing catches fire and for a brief moment he shines bright

On the table a piece of paper and a rose
You gave me, how its thorns hurt no one knows
I take it in my hand and clutch it
Slowly the thorns move into my skin, bit by bit

I let go of the rose with its thorns
Its time to take the bull by its horns
I take the pen in my hand, blood drips,
Drips on the paper, the blood from my fingertips

What's left to write or say?
When your life is burned-out and its ashes are grey
What's left to cry for?
When passion choked the flower till she cried no more

Nothing.. Just nothing..
