How That Must Have Been

by flawed diamond   Jan 28, 2006

I thought about you the other day
And it made me cry
Because the only thing I could think of
Was the fact that you were going to die

The cancer had spread so far
There was nothing that could be done
Most people had the option of surgery or chemo
But for you there was none

And I wonder how that must have been for you
To hear your doctor tell you that
I really wanted to know but not want to see
How that made you react

How that must have been
To realize you wouldn't see your youngest son graduate
You wouldn't live yo be a grandmother
Those thoughts made me hate

But you were so Godly
So I knew you weren't afraid to die
Sad maybe
But never questioning why

But this is just a side effect from life
No one is immune to pain
A loss on this earthly side
But for Heaven it's a gain

RIP Aunt J 11/14/01
