Tragedy Took Over

by shannon   Feb 10, 2006

"I think it is a surprise baby shower,
But I am not sure.
I am so excited for our baby
I can not wait any more!"

You never made it there that night
To the shower that was for you
Tragedy took over
And all your future plans were through

A baby room for a little girl
That he painted the day before
Is now vacant and bare
No longer waiting to shelter her anymore

A queen sized bed
That used to sleep two
Is cold on one side
With a young man wishing he was with you

A wedding planned
For a beautiful day in June
Had plans of love and contentment
That ended too soon

A baby that was due
In a week or maybe less
Never had the chance to grow
And was peacefully put to rest

His eyes always seemed to light up
When you entered a room
But that light seemed to die
The day we buried you serenely in your tomb

I had never met a person
Like you in my life
An honorable, kind, honest, young woman
A soon to be wife

You touched so many hearts
In your short twenty-two years of living
So many students of yours, thanks to you
Learnt the meaning of giving

A beautiful young woman
Whose end came that night
How we will miss your smile
And your in brightening light

R.I.P Krista and Elle
Your memory will forever live on

Touching poem, really don't know what else to say except yu might want to read over and fix those minor spelling mistakes. Otherwise, it's sad and hooks the reader and doesn't let go until the equally sad ending.

Fantastically written, great flow and the rhyming seems very natural.
