Monsters in my bed

by Melissa   Feb 11, 2006

I'm aware of the voices tonight
and I can feel the monsters glare
behind every standing tree.
What scares me the most
is their constant invisibility
and the ability to strike without notice.
Suddenly attacking like a force filled wind,
disabling my hands from defending
my sad filled life from ending.
Tonight they come, but not to take me
just to silently convey that they exist.
Not just in my dreams, but in reality
and every time I go to sleep there they lie,
underneath my blankets and sheets.

What a powerful poem....our personal demons are with us, beneath the sheets each night....sometimes haunting us, sometimes just letting us know they are still around....well done!
