Many have died upon
this once barren ground
land bearing soil of dust
was all that could be found

Many the tears of a father
sweat, kissing the land
in hope of,one decent crop
from a bleeding calloused hand

Winter has fallen quickly
fever has stolen the child
no strength to fight this
fire,fury running wild

A mother's desperate cries
a father's broken soul
the fever quickly spreading
hunger and disease in control

Years upon years of rain
cover this once barren ground
nurturing the crumbling soil
on the land they first found

Trees, grass and roses
nature growing above
things now taken for granted
something they could only.....dream of

This is such a wonderfully written poem. I read it first then looked at the picture. At frist when i read it I serisouly thought it was about war. I'm just studying for my history test maybe thats why. But I felt that it related perfectly. Then I saw the picture and read the poem again and i've gotta say, I luv it. Its amazing how just from a piece of art you interrurperated into such a meaning poem. Wonderfully done! 5/5
