The Flower That Challenged A God

by RainbowSlider   May 18, 2006

Once there a man who thought he was a hero.
He thought his royalty made him supreme.
His arrogance was as great as Nero.
He hadn't learned that he was part of a team.

As he grew in stature so did his ego.
He thought no one could be greater than him.
He thought intelligence was the way to go.
Almost everyone was afraid to challenge him.

The elders of the village watched him grow.
The children were impressed with his physique.
All manner of people came up only to his elbows.
His father died when he was at his peak.

Soon with all fanfare he ascended the throne.
He decided that he should broaden his empire.
His advisor's he heeded not so he was alone.
His armies took other kingdoms like wildfire.

Gaea's wood nymphs reported to her the news.
Gaea's wisdom decided to bring the God down.
It was safe to say that Gaea was not amused.
Around his castle Gaea cursed the ground.

The God was astonished at his predicament.
Gaea caused a flower to grow outside his portal.
The God didn't know what to think of it.
The wood nymphs laughed; they knew he was mortal.

The God was transfixed with the flower.
He couldn't understand how it could grow.
He cursed it with all his power.
The flower had no way to know.

Daily the God would talk to the flower.
He let everything else around him go.
He grew intrigued with its power.
The beauty of the flower made him mellow.
