Peeling back the mask

by *colorsofmylife*   Jun 5, 2006

When you look into my eyes
are you able to see through my plastic mask
a guard built from the ground with lies
something which has become a neverending task

for the emotions have proved too strong
and the pain never seems to slip my mind
always shot down because I'm wrong
leaving me another step behind

never capable of finding my place
I try to help others along the way
though I'm betrayed and slapped in the face
once more it only shows in leading me astray

simply a thing most choose to ignore
it's easier not to take the chance
not get involved in someone elses war
never even put forth more than a glance

my life has not come with ease
but it's a battle I'll always have to fight
give up, living each day on my knees
or surpass the odds, attempting to find some light

    Hmmm.
    Youve definately improved!
there's no comparison between this one and the others I've read.
    still
quite an amusing piece. but lacked a certain rhythm and trailed offf slightly too much
