You Drifted Away

by Princess Love   Jun 11, 2006

I wished on a star with all of my might
And there you stood out like a diamond so bright
A ray of sunshine and my world seemed right
A voice of music, you serenaded the still night

Like a field of red roses you grew in my heart
You were young, wild and free from the start
Your innocent heart captivated me
Together with you, I was where I longed to be

You caught me by surprise
With that vibrant smile and those angel eyes
And I was just a moment away from paradise
My heart you touched, my tears you dried
The passion of a crimson love burned inside

All my desires were wrapped in the gift of you
And my new found joy seemed so true
It's hard to explain the way I felt at that time
I was on a stairway to heaven when I felt you were mine

But now the truth is unfold
Of broken promises and sweet lies that you told
A bitter-sweet moment I will never forget
I still remember that wonderful night when we met

Your love faded like yesterday's sunset
I try so hard, yet I still can't forget
The night you journeyed on and did not stay
And like the wind, you drifted away

Wow that left me feeling so empty ( thats a good thing). This was written so well. With such detail of a lover then all of a sudden a betrayer, I hope that everything is ok. And again a lovely piece
