Goodbye

by Melissa S. Masucci   Jun 13, 2006

Suddenly I find myself alone,
And now where I once felt at home
is somewhere I am no longer welcome.

Your eyes are not warm anymore,
your embrace doesn't offer the protection it once did.
And the tone of your voice, a warning
that things would never be the same.

People ask why it lasted this long,
why we didn't stop sooner our relationship gone wrong.
But if you never stop loving,
How can you just throw that away?

To fight for your attention with the wintery winds,
the skis, the ice and snow...
I won't go there anymore, I won't fight that war.
There's more to life than that for me.

And yes, I still love your smile,
but you never smile at me anymore.
The only thing I see anymore are your eyes,
cold and fleeting.

To save my sanity and what I treasure,
I made a decision to protect my future.
The rest of my journey I will face alone.

Hey. YOu read my poem called "Childish Little Games." didnt you? Well if you did, was I being childish in it? Just wondering because someone said I was being really childish myself. Please be honest. Just leave a comment on that poem. Don't pm me.

I loved it. Amazing flow of words and rhythm to the whole poem. I liked how you described certain things in this, how you expressed some of your experiences. Greatly put together!

Thanks for the comment. It was well appreciated, and you were only the few who didn't ridicule it.
