No Hope To Cope

"Go take a rest my darling
And I will be right by your side
Sleep tight my girl and don't you worry
Mommy is right here if you cry"

"Ok mother, "She whispers
And I see the girl's bright smile
But no body noticed me standing yet
I've been in shadows for a while

The mother's face is lit up with love
As she closes the girl's door
And I see the father also happy
I see what his family's love is for

And so suddenly I don't know why
Hot tears burn up my face
And as they fall into my hands
I am in another different place

The halls are dark and gloomy
My throat is stuck and I can't speak
I cannot even ask for help I see
For in this house a plea is weak

As I walk along the hallway
I find a room half closed and dim
And it looks like there's a monster inside
Oh God, I remember him

"No please daddy, I'm sorry please"
The voice keeps ringing in my ear
He is screaming, yelling nasty things
But only the begging I can hear

And then I see it perfectly
The scene plays for me without a sound
And I watch as he keeps beating her
And as her body hits the ground

I want to help, I wish to stop it
But I'm shocked like her, I'm scared
We are both so weak in confidence
Both terrified of our own dad

And so I sit in the corner, gazing
Praying for her heart to cope
And expectedly tears fill our eyes
For we both know there's no such hope
