Mountaintop

by BlueEyedMystery   Jun 25, 2006

Sitting on this mountaintop,
Thinking about our departure,
Inviting the moon to look down,
And gaze upon all of nature.

The silent wind dances with my hair,
As a lonely tear stains my cheek,
The night sky is filled with stars,
While water flows rapidly in the creek.

Why did it have to be this way?
Why did you have to leave?
Why did you have to love her,
More than you ever loved me?

I look at the beauty around me,
I wish you were here to share it,
To lay on the heavenly grass,
And listen to the creatures in silence.

An eagle soars above me in the sky,
Its life and secrets a mystery,
Flying so proud with nothing to stop it,
It will remain forever free.

I have realized you aren't coming back,
You have left my life forever,
Even though I will never forget you,
Maybe this is for the better.
