Child abuse

by SweetxMisery   Jun 26, 2006

Truth is what we shared
but then you broke it
& the child's innocence was stolen
the abusers forgiving words are left unspoken
have you no remorse or shame?
don't you ever think about the hurt you've caused?
while you played your sick little game
what you did was unforgiving
& even though it wouldn't make things better
because your actions can't be undone
the child remembers how much was shared
& thinks maybe, just maybe
they would be better off
just knowing that you might still care

The childs dreams are filled with love that was never given
in place of that only pain & hate
then left alone in a sorrow filled state
the child knew something wasn't right
children are not suppost to go through this
& wake-up in a cold sweat
shaking in fright
but this is their reality
living in a nightmare
continuously walking in fear

Time cannot heal the past
because the damage is permanent
& while the child suffers
the abuser moves on
something so precious was destroyed
& cannot be replaced
now innocence & trust is nothing but a lost memory
that has since been misplaced
& all that is left is a dark & empty void
because their childhood was short lived & destroyed

Deep inside are scars that will never fade
& as they get older
the child is still inside
because of those painful nights they were forced to tell a lie
it was interrupted by a selfish human being
who left the heart with an empty hole inside
that can never be filled
& while they try to put the past behind
they struggle with their self-worth that they try to re-build
& just when they feel they've made a breakthrough
their haunted by their dreams
& as they awake
as the frightened child they once were
they are once again faced with the painful reminder
that even if they take it day by day
they can't escape the abusers thoughtless ways...
