How did We Forget?

Were always being told to remember
remember the wars before
remember the soldiers who lost their lives
& that its our freedom their fighting for
were told to remember how good we have it
& no matter how much we cry for them
it can be taken away from us
in the blink of an eye

But wait
what about the country we destroyed?
what about the innocent children?
& what about the families
left with broken hearts & an empty void?

Their the ones still struggling
their the ones who are at a loss
& when everything has been said & done
we all go our separate ways & move on
& our thoughts of Remembrance are completely gone

We may not be the ones who went to war
we may not be the ones apart of it
but we turn on the t.v. to see another fallen soldier
we feel for them & their family but only for a bit
& whether you think it's right or wrong
there's still one thing I just don't get
the question is, how did we forget?
