Too Many Questions

by Twisted Heart   Aug 1, 2006

My child arises each morning
A million questions he has in his mind
I tell him to get a dictionary
In it , the answers he'll find.

So many questions are thrown at me
Who, when, where, how and why
And though I want to answer him
All I can do is to cry.

No sooner have I answered one
Another one's right on the way
They start first thing every morning
And continue all through the day.

He doesn't even draw a breath
Before another question is formed
I've been littered with all these inquiries
Almost since the day he was born.

So many questions, I have to answer
And I'm really not having much fun
Sometimes I have to ask myself
Am I sure that he is my son.

So each new day there are questions
They multiply and then make me weep
And I think that they just might stop
When My dear son falls fast asleep.

Why, Who, Where, When and How
He's asking me now as he dreams
I think the questions will finally stop
When he reaches the age of eighteen.

Then I'll send him off to a collage
Where they have teachers there for that task
And I hope they answer his questions
Before they send my son back.

OMG! I loved it! You certainly made me smile, thanks! It was a great funny poem and although I havent read many poetry of this style yet, I can say this was one of the best so far! I totally understand you, because having a younger sister also has its funny little drawbacks. But its just natural they want to know, they need to know! I love the way kids may make you laugh at the most unexpected moments! BTW, this poem was amazing, the rhyming worked perfectly and I specially liked this stanza:

"So many questions, I have to answer
And I'm really not having much fun
Sometimes I have to ask myself
Am I sure that he is my son."
    I loved it! Keep writing!

I like this and can totally relate-though my daughter is grown now, I remember her asking'Why is the sky blue?', 'Where does God live??'"Is there a Bigfoot?' and on and on.You've captured this very well and it brings back memories both frustrating and funny as I tried to answer the questions of a child.Very well expressed.
