Solitaire (Lai)

by Kaylee   Aug 14, 2006

Realisim ceases,
Desolate pieces,
Bleary abrupt mind,
Rainfall tears mark blind,
Dream forgotten speech,
Numb troubled eyes reach,

Dejected hands act,
Shuffling cards stacked,
Embraced cherished deep,
Passion during sleep,
Aroused senses wake,
Shivering fears make,

Comprises of 5 syllable couplets separated by a 2 syllable line. The number of lines in a stanza is 9. Each group of couplets and 2 syllable lines follow the rhyme scheme "aab"; this is derived from an old French form.

Like the rest have said, this is the first time i have heard of this form but it was beautifully formed.

Gorgeous way of stringin the words togethor to create the eerie atmosphere and point across.

    Well Done

I've never heard of the style but it is really capturing.
This poem had all the beauties of a true poetic write.
I loved it, you did a good job here

I'm not too familiar with this format, but it was a joy to read. I know I read a lot of different style poems, but I have yet to try any of them. I guess I'm scared because it limits what I can write, but it takes someone with a lot of talent to write something like this. Well done Kaylee, this was a very sad poem. You used the right words to describe things.

I liked this form! You used it well too. I had to read it a few times only to get the full meaning because I feel it was written so complex. I really can't find a thing wrong with this.

Amazing job... I Love how you can switch styles and still do wonderfully. I may try one of these myself (though probably fail). Great job... I loved how the five syllable lines seemed to read fast... and then it slowed down at the two syllable...and then pick up again on and off.. Great.
