Smiles That Hurt {Italian Sonnet.}

-Smiles That Hurt.-

There's a girl in the mirror, smiling back at me!
Hiding the tears I know she has in her eyes,
Telling stories of lullabies and good-byes.
And the closer I look, the more I can see;
The innocent little girl she used to be.
And her fake smiles are all little white lies,
Because I know when she is alone, she cries,
Just praying for the day when she'll be free.

Sometimes - - I will wonder who she really is - -
And other times I think I already know.
As she stands there and stares at me, face inert.
Wondering, if anyone knows she exists.
With eyes bloodshot red, and her face of snow;
She whispers back at me, that these smiles hurt.

    Wow. your sonnet is way better than mine. but i also think that has something to do with the fact of my subject manner i was forced to write about..

    Either way- this is amazing, you really can write these well! since i read up on them i can also see the change from the octave to the sestet. Great job!
