-Imprinted In Pain.- {French Sonnet.}

Imprinted in pain, his hand swiped across her cheek!
As she stumbled to keep herself standing that night,
From the downpour of words said from their midnight fight.
She choked back tears and turned to run on legs so weak,
But the shimmer of the blade, made her stop and shriek.
His malicious stare shattered her heart with cold spite,
As the pirate stars shone on her still face so white.
The voices in her head, whispering soft and meek.

The bell tolled midnight as the blade slashed her torn heart - -
Silently chanting his long awaited good-bye.
The lost lullabies, slipping from beyond his lips,
And her soul slowly decayed from playing the part.
He blackened her eyes, as shattered hope slowly died.
Imprinted in pain, she said good-bye with a kiss.

A French Sonnet has the same structure and rhyme scheme as an Italian Sonnet, but the syllable count is different. A French Sonnet can only have 12 syllables per line, no more no less. And a rhyme scheme consisted in an octave of abbaabba and a sestet of cdecde or cdcdcd.
