Shelterd

by Tim Fleckney   Sep 16, 2006

Cold wind of discontent
Piercing my armour
Weakening my resolve

Refusing to open my soul to
Another painful memory
Tugging up my collar
A half assed attempt at
Shelter from the warmth of her words
Tickling my earlobe like a hot august breeze

Sitting alone staring at the stars
I can feel her from 30 miles away
Sending sweet comforting
Thoughts in a futile attempt
To cleanse a heart
Tarnished by
A thousand storms

Standing safe and secure
In the corridor listening to
The wind howling outside
I once again raise bleeding broken
Fists and howl in frustration

Praying to a god I'm not
Sure I even believe in to
Send a storm to end all storms
A storm strong enough
To once and for all
Tear down this wall that

I built too damn high
