No Sign Of Her

by Robert Spence   Oct 6, 2006

I love you, and I will always love you.
That is what she had said to me as her flaming-
Red hair brushed past my skin, and she walked out the door,
Burning a hole in my chest,
Never to be seen again.

I am now transparent.

I loved the way our bodies used to intertwine,
Her warm blooded skin melting inside of me,
I would be overwhelmed at the fact she loved me.

She could stare into the deep depths of my soul,
And play with it as if it were possible,
But she was impossibly beautiful,
And it was impossible that she had loved me that much,
Because she walked out the door and left me standing.

I watched the harsh wind blow the curtains to and fro,
Waiting for something to happen,
Waiting for a knock at the door, or a ring of the phone,
But there was no sign of her, no sign of human life at all.
