Broken Image. [Villonnet]

Broken Image.

As I look upon my porcelain face in the mirror - -
There is a broken image staring back at me,
Baby blue eyes talking of lullabies and goodbyes,
As my secrets fall to the floor within a silent tear.

My fingers trace along my expression so austere,
Etching out all of my lies and deceptions you believed.
Hesitantly I stare; at the barbie I have created,
As I look upon my porcelain face in the mirror.

Your bitter sweet promises shatter inside my ear,
As I stare upon your face in the picture on my wall,
Looking back at a person you thought you knew - -
As my secrets fall to the floor within a silent tear.

As I look upon my porcelain face in the mirror - -
I whisper good-bye to who you thought you knew,
As my secrets fall to the floor within a silent tear.

A Villonnet is a hybrid of the Villanelle and the Sonnet. It has the Iambic Pentameter of both, but holds the four-stanza/line structure of the Sonnet, while utilizing the two-line rhyme nature of the Villanelle. The final stanza replaces the Sonnet couplet with a typical Villanelle tercet.

- - I know that it's really confusing and weird. I am trying to break out of my writers block, I will more than likely be fixing it up. - -
