Keeping My Smile

by *Charisma*   Oct 31, 2006

I never imagined one person could take
Everything that meant something to me
I used to belong all to myself
But with you entertwined all my dreams

So when you finally took your leave
With it you stole all my belongings
Now I am in an empty house
With memories that mean nothing

I wake up in the middle of the night
To find that nobody's home
I go to the cabinet where there's one cup
To remind me I am alone

Things aren't the same without their pair
So without you I'm just a half
Half of everything I used to be
Like a joke without a laugh

Maybe you took all that I have
Everything that made life worthwhile
But there's one item you forgot
And I've decided I'm keeping my smile.

This was rather good. loved the way you ended it. Although it seemed befitting that he left you all of that. A smile is God's way of getting back at the ones who hurt you.

    Good flow, and content.
