Answer My Heart

In my heart, I know you're the one
But I don't know if you feel it, too.
That's what kills these dreams I have
Of a picture-painted me and you

If only I knew what raced through your head
Whenever you saw or spoke to me,
Then I would know where it would go
And look at what we may be

But I'm terrified of your answer
To the question that won't leave my mind.
Is denial better? It feels safer
Than what in the end I could find.

Because with a "no" you could break me
And I would cry a river of tears
But with a "yes" you could take me,
Away from my one truest fear.

So subtlely I'll hint to my feelings
And see what you're heart says to mine
Answer me honestly, no matter what,
So I can move from this place in time.
