Nothing Left Within

by x.Athame.x   Nov 28, 2006

She went and hid herself away
Trying to ease the pain
There was no one to talk to
And there was no one to blame

She had wrought this on herself
Though she didn't know that then
She seemed too shattered
She thought she'd never mend

She wandered around her house
Looking for someone to confide in
There wasn't anyone there
So her pain kept killing her from within

She had no way to let it out
Without taking her own blood
So she again held a knife
And out of her wrist, a crimson flood

She would wear long sleeves
So that the scars wouldn't show
She thought that if she hid away
That no one would ever know

The pain just kept building
As she struggled day after day
Finally in order to soothe the pain
She would give her life away

On a raining, bleak night
She once again grabbed hold her knife
She gouged it in a little too deep
And out of her poured her life

Her parents came into her room
Just as she collapsed to the floor
What had happened to the girl they knew
Was that even their daughter anymore?

Tears streaming in black on her pale skin
She just lay there silently, bleeding away
She turned her head wearily to her mom
"I'm sorry" were the last words she would say
